As Kerala braces for its November 13 bypolls, a political storm erupts following the opposition Congress's allegations against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The Congress party accuses Vijayan and the CPI(M) of stalling the rise of a Dalit leader to the state's highest political office.
At the heart of the controversy is the former Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan's election to the Lok Sabha, which Congress claims denied him a potential candidacy for chief ministership. Congress leader, Mathew Kuzhalnadan, has openly demanded a response from the chief minister on this allegation.
In contrast, CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan vehemently denies these charges, branding them as attempts to incite communal sentiments for electoral advantage in the forthcoming Chelakkara bypoll, labeling the Congress's tactics as a form of fascist politics.
