Massive Election Seizures in Thane: Crackdown Ahead of Polls

In the lead-up to the Maharashtra assembly elections, authorities in Thane district have conducted significant seizures, confiscating cash, liquor, and jewellery, all valued at a total of Rs 23.41 crore, according to an official statement made on Monday.
The comprehensive seizures, spanning 18 constituencies as of November 11, comprise Rs 12.41 crore in cash, liquor valued at Rs 2.22 crore, narcotics estimated at Rs 1.64 crore, jewellery and other assets worth Rs 23.26 lakh, and distribution materials valued at Rs 6.89 crore.
District collector and election officer Ashok Shingare emphasized the district administration's dedication to enforcing the election code and ensuring a fair electoral process. Key candidates from Thane include Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik, with voting scheduled for November 20 and outcomes announced on November 23.
