Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while addressing an election rally in Mumbai on Sunday, launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his party for their alleged disrespect towards Veer Savarkar. Shah also challenged Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, urging him to have Gandhi praise Savarkar and the late Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray.
Highlighting ideological differences within the MVA alliance, Shah called on the people of Maharashtra to notice these contradictions. He further accused Gandhi of disrespecting the Constitution and Babasaheb Ambedkar by waving an empty booklet in Parliament, claiming it to be against the foundational principles of the Indian Constitution.
Shah continued his criticism by alleging that Congress indulges in appeasement politics, citing a letter from Congress leader Nana Patole promising reservations for Muslims, contrary to existing constitutional provisions, and warning Maharashtrians about such promises. The Maharashtra assembly elections on November 20 remain a contentious political battleground between the MVA coalition and the Mahayuti alliance.
