Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, accusing him of siding with those opposing the construction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and disrespecting Veer Savarkar. The remarks were made during the launch of the BJP's 'Sankalp Patra' manifesto for the Maharashtra assembly elections in Mumbai.
Addressing the crowd, Shah said, "Uddhav ji, I want you to realize you're with those who opposed the abrogation of Article 370 and the construction of the Ram Janambhoomi temple. You're allied with those disparaging Savarkar and opposing the CAA and UCC." Shah challenged Thackeray to urge Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi to praise Savarkar, highlighting ideological differences within the MVA alliance.
Further criticizing the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, Shah accused it of playing 'appeasement politics' and disregarding Maharashtra's culture for power. He reiterated support for the Mahayuti government, asserting that the MVA had rejected the public's mandate in 2019. The Maharashtra assembly elections, scheduled for November 20, pit the MVA against the Mahayuti alliance in a heated political battle.
