Madhya Pradesh's government plans to increase the financial aid given to women under the Ladli Bahna Yojana to Rs 5,000. Currently, Rs 1,250 is transferred monthly to eligible women's bank accounts, a scheme criticized by the opposition Congress but lauded by the ruling party.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, speaking at a rally, asked attendees to challenge the Congress's historical financial policies. Yadav promised to continue the scheme, increasing support from the current Rs 1,250 to as much as Rs 5,000 per month.
In Budhni, where a bypoll is upcoming, Yadav emphasized the BJP's commitment to the scheme. Ladli Bahna Yojana was initially launched ahead of state elections but has since become a centerpiece of the government's financial policy aimed at women's empowerment.
