The Congress party took decisive action on Saturday by suspending two of its local leaders, Manoj Shinde and Suresh Patil Khede, who are contesting the Kopri-Pachpakhadi assembly constituency as independents.
Thane Congress chief Vikrant Chavan announced the six-year suspension, attributing it to anti-party activities as the leaders refused to withdraw their independent nominations.
This development comes despite Kedar Dighe being the official candidate of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance, which includes Congress, NCP(SP), and Shiv Sena (UBT), for the upcoming November 20 elections.
