Bihar's Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, while canvassing for the upcoming November 13 Tarari byelection, emphasized his government's inclusive approach, stating that under previous Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) rule, people were afraid to leave their homes in the evenings. He underscored the development work carried out for all communities, including Muslims.
Speaking at a public meeting in Arrah, Kumar highlighted improvements such as the recognition and equal salary for teachers in madrasas. Criticizing the RJD for inaction despite garnering votes, he underscored efforts towards communal harmony since coming to power and announced continued collaboration with the NDA.
Recalling his tenure as a minister under Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Kumar acknowledged past mistakes but emphasized cooperation for progress. Concurrently, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav expressed confidence in securing victory in the by-polls and 2025 assembly elections, vowing to form a government focusing on the poor. Meanwhile, the Election Commission postponed by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Punjab to November 20, responding to requests from major political parties due to festival-related voter turnout concerns.
