Kashmir's political leaders are uniting in opposition against the upcoming Union Territory foundation day celebrations. Sajad Lone, leader of the Peoples' Conference, criticized the festivities as a reminder of disempowerment for the region, urging the state government to abstain from participating.
Adding his voice, M Y Tarigami of the CPI(M) has labeled the celebrations as disrespectful to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Both leaders emphasized the need for the central government to restore statehood as previously promised.
The National Conference (NC), led by Omar Abdullah, has announced its intention to boycott the event, denouncing the 2019 decision that downgraded the state's status as unconstitutional. They've reiterated the call for statehood restoration, aligning with public sentiment.
