Uncontested Victory: SKM Secures Key Seats in Sikkim Bypolls

In recent bypolls, SKM candidates Aditya Golay and Satish Chandra Rai secured uncontested victories in Soreng-Chakung and Namchi-Singhithang constituencies, following withdrawals by SDF candidates. This win means SKM matches historical records set by SSP in 1989 and SDF in 2009, with SKM's President premiring electoral strength.

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) candidates Aditya Golay and Satish Chandra Rai achieved uncontested victories in the recent bypolls for the Soreng-Chakung and Namchi-Singhithang assembly constituencies, according to officials.

Aditya Golay's unchallenged ascent came after SDF's Probin Hang Subba withdrew from the race for Soreng-Chakung a day prior. As the sole candidate, Golay was declared victorious and received his election certificate from Soreng Returning Officer Dhiraj Subedi once the nomination withdrawal period ended. Similarly, Satish Chandra Rai emerged victorious in Namchi-Singhithang after SDF's Daniel Rai withdrew his candidacy.

The triumph of Golay and Rai means that SKM equaled the achievement of winning all 32 seats in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly, a record previously held by the Sikkim Sangram Parishad in 1989 and the Sikkim Democratic Front in 2009. Chief Minister and SKM President Prem Singh Tamang had previously encouraged residents to support all 32 MLAs to accelerate development in the Himalayan state.
