The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called on the Congress to apologize after the Election Commission labeled its objections regarding the Haryana assembly elections as both 'frivolous' and 'unfounded.' The BJP's demand comes amid heightened political tensions.
In a letter addressed to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, the Election Commission described the Congress's skepticism about the electoral process as an attempt to undermine confidence in the democratic system. This move has been perceived as part of a broader pattern of raising generic doubts during crucial election periods, according to the Commission.
BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi accused the Congress of attempting to weaken constitutional institutions. He emphasized that the detailed 1,642-page response from the Election Commission should prompt the Congress to reassess its stance and apologize to the nation.
