They also call for lifting the blockade, unrestricted aid, reconstruction efforts, and a prisoner swap. Qatar and the U.S. continue mediation efforts ahead of the upcoming U.S. elections.
The complex dynamics of the Gaza conflict have taken a potential turn as Hamas reviews new mediation proposals aimed at halting hostilities. The organization insists on a complete Israeli military withdrawal to achieve a permanent ceasefire.
Hamas is not budging on its longstanding demands, which include lifting the blockade, approving unrestricted relief aid, and negotiating a prisoner swap. The Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Netanyahu, remains steadfast in its position that the conflict can only conclude when Hamas is eradicated.
Meanwhile, Qatar, alongside the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden, vows to mediate tirelessly for a resolution. As the Nov. 5 presidential election approaches, Qatari spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari expressed confidence that U.S. institutions are committed to resolving the crisis, irrespective of election outcomes.
