BJP candidate Kishore Kumar Puttur has clinched a sweeping victory in the Dakshina Kannada Local Authorities Constituency by-election, as announced today. The vote count was conducted at St. Aloysius Pre-University College in Mangaluru this morning.
A total of 5,092 elected representatives from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts participated in the election process. Puttur won by a commanding lead of 1,600 votes in the tally based on first-preference votes.
This by-election followed the elevation of former minister and senior BJP leader Kota Srinivasa Poojary to the Lok Sabha. The Congress party's Raju Poojary was the opposing candidate. BJP workers celebrated Puttur's victory at their Mangaluru office.
