In the wake of a deadly terrorist attack in Ganderbal that claimed the lives of seven individuals, including a doctor and migrant workers, Jammu and Kashmir's Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has stressed the importance of elevated alertness among the region's security forces and police.

During his visit to Manjkote in Rajouri district to offer condolences to Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, Abdullah questioned the rationale behind such violence, emphasizing the futility of aggression against innocents. He argued that peace is essential for progress in Jammu and Kashmir, condemning the attack as a means to destabilize the region.

The incident on the Srinagar-Leh national highway, which targeted a tunnel construction site, sparked significant concern as it was a deliberate act by terrorists. While controversial remarks from Abdullah on the nature of the attack stirred debate, he maintained his stance on the urgent need for vigilance and reiterated his party's commitment to peace.
