Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma projected optimism on Sunday, affirming that the ruling NDA coalition is set to retain its grip on four assembly seats while ambitiously targeting a fifth in the forthcoming by-elections scheduled for next month.
The by-elections, prompted by the electoral ascension of incumbent MLAs to Lok Sabha membership, will take place across the Dholai, Sidli, Bongaigaon, Behali, and Samaguri constituencies. Sarma emphasized the dedication of parliament-elected BJP and NDA representatives in ensuring victory for party candidates.
As November 13 approaches for the polling day, the BJP has announced its lineup of candidates, while its allies, the Asom Gana Parishad and United People's Party Liberal, rally to contest Bongaigaon and Sidli respectively, with the vote count slated for November 23.
