In the wake of the violence that erupted in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's decision to issue a demolition notice has stirred controversy. The target of the notice is Abdul Hameed, accused in the unrest, whose residence allegedly involved illegal constructions. This administrative action has drawn scrutiny and criticism from political opponents.

Samajwadi Party's Member of Parliament, Awadhesh Prasad, voiced strong objections against the Chief Minister's measures on Sunday. He argued that the deployment of bulldozers is not in accordance with established legal frameworks such as the IPC or CrPC, contending that this marks an overreach of legal boundaries akin to 'jungle law'. Prasad accused CM Yogi of attempting to establish a parallel law in Uttar Pradesh.

The violence in question included the killing of Ramgopal Mishra during community clashes linked to the Durga idol immersion procession. With five individuals arrested, including two injured in a police encounter, Uttar Pradesh's Director General of Police, Prashant Kumar, confirmed the restoration of order in Bahraich, concluding that the situation is now contained.
