The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government has identified buses from Uttar Pradesh as a key contributor to the worsening air quality in Delhi, particularly in the Anand Vihar area. Delhi faces a severe air quality crisis, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) hitting 454 at 8:30 am, classified as 'severe.'

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Environment Minister Gopal Rai conducted an inspection at Anand Vihar, highlighting strict anti-pollution measures in place. Atishi stated, 'Anti-pollution measures are being strictly deployed across Delhi. We have formed 99 teams for dust control measures and are deploying more than 325 smog guns. PWD and MCD resources are fully engaged in pollution mitigation efforts.'

Gopal Rai emphasized the role of buses from Uttar Pradesh in exacerbating Delhi's pollution crisis, calling for the UP government to initiate water sprinkling at Kaushambi bus depot. The Delhi administration is actively engaging with UP to mitigate the cross-border pollution, including addressing untreated effluents in the Yamuna River, which have contributed to visible toxic foam.
