Amidst mounting anticipation, the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra is poised to formalize its seat-sharing formula in the days leading up to the pivotal assembly elections. Talks between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde, and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) under Ajit Pawar's leadership have nearly finalized the distribution strategy, sources reveal.

Sources indicate that the seat-sharing agreement for Maharashtra's 288 assembly seats was concluded in New Delhi. The Eknath Shinde-led party is expected to vie for 85-90 seats, while Ajit Pawar's faction may contest in 50 seats, with the remaining segments allocated to the BJP, according to insiders.

The alliance aims to capitalize on governmental initiatives like the Ladli Bahna Yojna, which aids 2.3 crore citizens, alongside policies such as toll tax reductions and Maratha reservation to bolster its electoral appeal. A BJP official asserted that the coalition has significantly strengthened since the Lok Sabha polls, and anticipates strong Maratha voter support due to proactive reservation measures.
