The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially named former Member of Parliament Sunil Soni as its candidate for the upcoming bypoll in Raipur City South, Chhattisgarh, set for November 13. This decision comes after BJP MLA Brijmohan Agrawal vacated the seat, having been elected to the Lok Sabha.

Sunil Soni, who previously served as the mayor of Raipur and was an MP in 2019, will now attempt to uphold the BJP's longstanding control over the constituency. The BJP's Central Election Committee, meeting in New Delhi, finalized Soni's candidacy.

As the BJP continues its push to dominate the region, the Congress Party has yet to reveal their contender for the bypoll, with election results expected on November 23. The constituency has over 270,000 registered voters and will witness extensive security measures across its 253 polling booths.
