The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi has accused the BJP of orchestrating a plot to remove 10,000 legitimate voters from electoral rolls in each Maharashtra constituency ahead of the November 20 assembly elections. The allegations include adding fake names, some from other states, to the voter lists.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole claim BJP Maharashtra chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule is complicit in this scheme. The opposition plans to raise public awareness and organize protests, demanding the Election Commission of India ensures fair elections.
NCP (SP) MLA Jitendra Awhad revealed deletions in areas like Shirdi, Chandrapur, and Nagpur. Patole emphasized that voter name deletions target specific castes and religions, calling for the removal of Maharashtra's DGP to ensure free elections, similar to actions taken in Jharkhand.
