In the aftermath of NCP leader Baba Siddique's murder in Mumbai, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has assured that the Election Commission will take a stringent stance to avert violence against political figures, particularly as the Model Code of Conduct is now active in Maharashtra.

Addressing concerns in the wake of Siddique's assassination, Kumar emphasized that the commission will instruct police in the concerned state to treat such politically motivated crimes as completely unacceptable.
