National Conference leader Omar Abdullah stated on Wednesday that the results of the Assembly elections demonstrate that the majority of people in Jammu and Kashmir have not supported the central government's decision to revoke the region's special status.

Abdullah highlighted that had the mandate been in favor of the revocation, the BJP would have won. He reiterated NC's steadfastness in its political agenda, promising continued advocacy for the rights promised to J&K at accession, despite recognizing the restoration of Article 370 is unlikely during the current government.

Abdullah commented on government formation, stating that the NC's legislative party would meet shortly. He addressed potential alliance considerations and future leadership decisions while acknowledging the unique challenges that come with leading in a Union Territory setting.
