Former Goa RSS chief Subhash Velingkar appeared at Bicholim police station on Thursday afternoon after committing to cooperate with a police investigation. This comes amid allegations of him making a controversial remark against St. Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goa.
Velingkar, facing a legal case, has filed for pre-arrest bail with the Goa bench of the Bombay High Court. His lawyer assured Justice B P Deshpande that Velingkar would cooperate with the police, preventing immediate arrest if he remains cooperative.
The High Court is set to hear his anticipatory bail application on Monday, as Velingkar recorded his statement with the investigating officer. His supporters and the Superintendent of Police for North Goa, Akshat Kaushal, were present during his police station visit.
