Independent Candidates Make Waves in J&K Elections
Three independent candidates have claimed victories in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls, with a few others leading in various constituencies. Independent candidates have emerged as significant players in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, with three securing victories and four others leading in their respective constituencies.
In Inderwal, Payare Lal Sharma triumphed over veteran leader Gulam Mohammad Saroori by a slender margin of 643 votes, securing 14,195 votes in total.
Meanwhile, in Bani, Dr. Rameshwar Singh defeated BJP's Jewan Lal by 2,048 votes, while in Surankote, Choudhary Mohammad Akram overcame Congress' Mohammad Shahnawaz by 8,851 votes. The counting process continues, with other independents also gaining ground.
