The Congress Party's mood swung from joy to despair on Tuesday as election trends indicated a startling defeat in the Haryana assembly elections. Despite early indicators suggesting a decisive victory, the atmosphere at the AICC headquarters quickly became subdued as the BJP's performance surged.
Initially, AICC workers celebrated with fireworks and sweets as early trends and exit polls pointed to a Congress victory. However, by 10 AM, the mood shifted drastically as the BJP began gaining ground, causing celebrations to cease and leaving party members visibly disheartened.
Despite Congress leaders' earlier optimism, the Electoral Commission's data reflected a BJP majority by the afternoon. Allegations regarding EVM discrepancies and delayed updates on results added further tension, casting doubt and unease over the surprising outcome of the elections.
