Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday voiced his concern over the perceived decline in the quality of political discourse in Parliament, stating that previously there were "wonderful discussions" but today there is "so much noise."

Speaking at an event jointly organized by the Rashtriya Sewa Bharati and Sant Eshwer Foundation, Rijiju noted a shift in the public mindset, asserting that very few people appreciate good work these days. "Today you can't get votes even by doing good work... Nobody even listens if you talk about something good," he said.

Rijiju further lamented the deteriorating social system, recalling that, as a young MP, parliamentary discussions were more productive. He criticized the current state where creating ruckus garners media attention, overshadowing meaningful discussions.

The minister also expressed disappointment in the learning outcomes of students, recalling his own challenging educational experiences in a border area. He stressed a perceived deficiency in the quality of education today's children receive, despite attending well-resourced schools.

Rijiju concluded by reflecting on the paradox of social influence, where individuals with little positive contribution amass large followings on social media, questioning the values represented by such figures.
