Russia's Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that the triumph of Austria's far-right Freedom Party (FPO) in a recent election illustrates growing dissatisfaction within Austrian society concerning anti-Russian policies. Maria Zakharova, the ministry's spokeswoman, made the statement while Austria's president called for parliamentary parties to avoid confrontation and seek compromise in coalition discussions, as the FPO's victory did not secure an absolute majority.

Emerging as a notable force, the Eurosceptic and Russia-friendly FPO celebrated its first parliamentary election win since its 1950s inception. Despite this historic achievement, the FPO requires a coalition partner to govern, yet other parties have expressed disinterest. Zakharova remarked that the libertarian victory highlights public discontent with the authorities' opposition to Russia, including sanction wars and disrupted trade relations.

Zakharova further noted that Austrians nostalgically recall the benefits of interacting with Russia and are puzzled by current policies. She asserted that as public awareness grows, these favorable trends are likely to gain momentum.
