Jammu and Kashmir's Peaceful Transformation: A New Era Begins

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated on Wednesday that the peaceful conduct of elections and recent development in Jammu and Kashmir illustrate the Union territory's journey towards 'creating a new history by forgetting its past.'
Speaking at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Sinha remarked that Bapu always envisioned peace and progress for the region, and he encouraged the new generation to draw inspiration from Gandhi's ideals.
He emphasized that today's youth hold dreams of peace and progress rather than weapons, signifying a transformative change. The recent successful Lok Sabha and assembly elections were conducted peacefully, gaining attention worldwide, Sinha said. He highlighted the enormous participation of 1.40 crore citizens in the assembly polls, showcasing the region's renewed faith in constitutional values.
Sinha expressed pride in the achievements of the past five years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, mentioning the empowerment of grassroots democracy, peaceful elections, and developmental progress. He noted the significant entrepreneurial strides made by the youth, including the women-led startups.
While acknowledging attempts to mislead some youth, Sinha urged them to reject violence and contribute to societal harmony and development.
