Israel has initiated small ground raids against Hezbollah as it gears up for a larger ground offensive in Lebanon, according to officials on Monday.
A U.S. official revealed that Israel has notified the U.S. about the ongoing raids but has not given a timeline for the broader operation. Washington supports Israel's right to defend itself and has not advised halting all operations in Lebanon.
An anonymous Western diplomat in Cairo, involved in de-escalation efforts, described the imminent Israeli ground operation in Lebanon as "limited." Israel has shared its plans with the U.S. and other Western allies. Hezbollah, however, remains defiant, promising to continue fighting despite losing key leaders, including Hassan Nasrallah.
