Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday expressed his sorrow over the passing of Vinay Kumar, a soldier from Himachal Pradesh, due to an illness, according to an official release.

Initially, a statement from the Chief Minister's office had reported that the 25-year-old Kumar, who hailed from Pohal village in Mandi district, had laid down his life while fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. However, a revised statement clarified that Kumar died during treatment in Jalandhar.

Chief Minister Sukhu affirmed that the state government stands with the bereaved family during this hour of distress and vowed to provide all possible assistance.
