In response to a cow slaughter video, the Superintendent of Police in Mirzapur has suspended 10 policemen, including two sub-inspectors, for alleged dereliction of duty, officials revealed on Monday. The incident has led to the arrest of 12 individuals, four of whom are women. Meanwhile, an inquiry against the SHO of Kotwali police station has been initiated.
Superintendent of Police Abhinandan took immediate action by suspending 10 policemen posted at the medical college's police outpost. Among those suspended are two sub-inspectors and several head constables. A departmental inquiry has been ordered to investigate the negligence.
Following a public outcry over the cow slaughter video, a joint investigation involving local police forces led to the recovery of significant quantities of meat from the Rambagh area in the city's center, raising questions about local law enforcement's effectiveness.
