In the wake of protests in Jammu and Kashmir over the assassination of Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), prominent political figures have voiced their discontent. National Conference MP Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi stated on Monday that Nasrallah's death represents a significant setback for the resistance movement.

Israel's airstrikes in Beirut led to the death of the Hezbollah leader, a move that the IDF later confirmed. The National Conference MP noted that halting their election campaign was a form of protest to show solidarity with the resistance. 'They aim to debilitate the Palestinian resistance. Nasrallah's martyrdom is a monumental loss in this fight,' Mehdi said.

PDP Chief and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also canceled her election campaign, expressing her support for the people of Palestine and Lebanon. 'In this hour of immense grief, we stand with the people of Palestine and Lebanon,' Mufti stated. The region of Budgam in Jammu and Kashmir also saw a protest march against the killing of Nasrallah on September 29.
