BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Wednesday retracted her comments supporting the three repealed farm laws, landing herself in another political controversy. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) quickly distanced itself from her remarks, and the Congress called for her expulsion and demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the issue, intensifying the situation.
Ranaut clarified that her views were personal and did not reflect the BJP's stance. However, her statement has put the BJP in a precarious position amid a significant campaign to retain power in Haryana, a state that witnessed major protests against the farm laws. BJP's spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia expressed that Ranaut was not authorized to speak on behalf of the party regarding this matter.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the BJP, demanding Modi clarify his stance. He accused the party of using Ranaut to test controversial ideas and urged collective opposition if the farm laws are revived. The Congress and farmers' leaders have called for action against Ranaut, further straining political tensions.
