Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan on Wednesday affirmed that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will convert the Ladki Bahin Yojana for women into a rights-based scheme if the opposition alliance assumes power in Maharashtra.
Addressing the India Today Conclave, Chavan highlighted the Congress' victory in securing more Lok Sabha seats than its allies Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) in Maharashtra, with Congress winning 13 out of 40 seats.
He expressed confidence in the MVA's potential victory, stressing the importance of not being overconfident. Chavan noted that the Congress will maintain its commitment to women's financial empowerment, drawing parallels to schemes in Karnataka and Telangana, and advocating for the Ladki Bahin Yojana as rightful compensation for women's unpaid domestic labor.
