In a significant political move, Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel has terminated the membership of Chhatarpur MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar under the anti-defection law, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
Kartar Singh Tanwar, elected on an AAP ticket in the 2020 elections, defected to the BJP in July this year. This defection also saw MLA Raaj Kumar Anand from Patel Nagar disqualified after resigning from his post as Social Welfare Minister and joining BJP earlier this year.
A notification issued by the Delhi Assembly Secretariat on Tuesday specified that Tanwar's disqualification was effective from July 10, 2024, marking a pivotal moment in Delhi's political landscape.
