Republican Donald Trump announced he would not seek a fourth consecutive run for the U.S. presidency if he loses the Nov. 5 election. In an interview released on Sunday, Trump, 78, stated, "that will be it" if he is not successful.
Facing a tight race against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris, polls indicate they are neck-and-neck in key battleground states. Despite Harris edging up in nationwide polls, Trump remains hopeful for a victory. Trump launched his previous White House bids in 2020 and 2022.
Trump has blamed his 2020 election loss to President Joe Biden on voter fraud, facing criminal charges related to these claims. He denies any wrongdoing, alleging political attacks against him. Concurrently, he has launched several business ventures, including Trump Media and NFTs, amidst his latest campaign.
Harris, 59, views the race as a pivotal moment for U.S. democracy, focusing on family and housing issues. Trump remarked that a continuous four-year tenure would have been easier politically but believes past experiences highlight his adversaries' shortcomings. He deemed it premature to discuss potential cabinet appointments should he win in November.
