An Israeli airstrike on a Beirut suburb has left 31 people dead, including seven women and three children, according to Lebanon's health minister, Firass Abiad. The attack also injured 68 individuals, with 15 still hospitalized. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the death toll is expected to rise.
This incident marks the deadliest strike on the Lebanese capital since the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war. The strike targeted a densely populated southern neighborhood on Friday afternoon. Israel claimed to have killed 11 Hezbollah operatives who were in a meeting in the building's basement.
The airstrike demolished an eight-story building and damaged an adjacent one. Lebanese Red Cross members and other relief workers are continuing to search through the rubble. The escalating conflict has led to mass evacuations in southern Lebanon and northern Israel, with both sides regularly trading fire.
