The Congress party filed a police complaint on Wednesday against leaders of the ruling NDA for recent statements targeting Rahul Gandhi. The complaint, submitted by AICC treasurer Ajay Maken to the Tughlaq Road police station, alleges these remarks jeopardize Gandhi's safety and aim to disturb national peace, especially amid upcoming elections.
Maken cited statements from BJP leaders Tarvinder Singh Marwah, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Raghuraj Singh, and Shiv Sena MLA Sanjay Gaikwad. The party seeks FIRs against these leaders. Speaking to media, Maken condemned the threats, referencing the assassinations of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi.
Maken criticized the BJP for its inaction against these leaders and attributed the threats to Rahul Gandhi's advocacy for marginalized groups. The complaint accuses the leaders of inciting hatred and violence against Gandhi and the Congress to disrupt public peace, particularly ahead of polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.
