Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to launch his election campaign with a historic rally in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, on Saturday—the first visit by any prime minister to the area in 42 years. The event, aimed at drumming up support for BJP candidates, will be tightly secured.

A multi-tier security arrangement has been set up across Doda and Kishtwar districts, particularly around the venue in Doda town's stadium, to ensure a peaceful rally. "Prime Minister Modi will conduct his first election meeting in Doda tomorrow, the first such event since 1982," said Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy.

With voting for eight Assembly seats in the Chenab Valley scheduled for September 18, BJP leaders believe the prime minister's visit will significantly bolster electoral prospects. The rally follows previous events addressed by Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Voting occurs in three phases, culminating in vote counting on October 8.
