Kakkathoppu Balaji, a notorious history-sheeter involved in over 50 serious criminal cases, was shot dead during an encounter with Chennai police on Wednesday.
Police officials stated that Balaji, who had been evading arrest for quite some time, was located at a hideout in Vyasarpadi based on a tip-off. Upon noticing the police, Balaji opened fire in resistance, prompting the police to return fire in self-defense, resulting in his death.
His criminal record includes a range of serious charges, including murder.
