Lok Sabha MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, emphasized on Friday that his struggle is focused on restoring Jammu and Kashmir's special status, which was revoked by the Centre in August 2019, rather than against the National Conference (NC) or People's Democratic Party (PDP).
Addressing a public rally in Anantnag district, Rashid criticized NC vice president Omar Abdullah and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti for alleged double standards. He pointed out that the leaders were quick to congratulate Arvind Kejriwal on his Supreme Court bail but failed to support him during his detention.
Rashid also targeted Mufti's tenure as the chief minister, accusing her of mistreatment of south Kashmir residents who had initially supported her. Rashid was recently granted interim bail by a court, allowing him to campaign for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, after being detained since 2019 in a terror funding case.
