On Friday, Congress' Manipur chief K Meghachandra made a fervent appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the violence-stricken state, asserting that his presence could play a crucial role in restoring peace and normalcy.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh publicized Meghachandra's letter on social media platform X, noting that the Manipur chief had once again made an 'anguished plea to the non-biological prime minister' to visit the state. Ramesh questioned whether Modi would finally gather the courage to act.
Meghachandra highlighted the gravity of the state's condition since May 2023, citing internal displacement of nearly a lakh people and the loss of hundreds of lives. The recent escalation due to drone and RPG attacks has plunged the state into further chaos, increasing fears and trauma among residents.
