Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday pressed the central team, which visited flood-hit areas in the state, for immediate fund release for relief activities.

During a meeting at the Secretariat, the CM emphasized the extensive damage wrought by recent rains and flooding.

Reddy urged the central team to release assistance unconditionally, proposing a permanent fund for future flood prevention. He also suggested that the union government devise an action plan to tackle such issues permanently.

The central team spent three days assessing rain and flood-affected regions, later meeting with the state Chief Secretary on September 11. Preliminary state estimates peg flood damages at Rs 5,438 crores, with 29 lives lost.
