National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Friday lauded the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi excise policy case. He emphasized that legal disputes should be settled in courts, not through electoral processes.

"Congratulations to him. Getting released from jail is only through the court. This is a betrayal to the people of Baramulla who were misled into believing they could secure releases through votes. Nobody is released through voting; it happens only through the court," Abdullah stated. Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shortly after the Supreme Court granted bail to the Aam Aadmi Party leader, alleging that the BJP's plans were thwarted and that they aim to imprison opposition leaders to maintain power.

"BJP's strategies have been derailed. Their goal is to incarcerate opposition leaders to stay in power," Sunita Kejriwal asserted. Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and AAP leader Manish Sisodia also welcomed the bail decision, claiming that truth once again triumphed over deceit and conspiracies.

In a post on X, Sisodia remarked, "Today, once again, truth has prevailed in the battle against falsehoods and plots. I once again pay tribute to the foresight of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, who 75 years ago empowered the common man against any future dictator." The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case registered by the CBI involving the alleged excise policy scam. The court noted that prolonged incarceration amounts to an unjust deprivation of liberty.

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21, 2024, in connection with a money laundering investigation concerning alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy 2021-22. On June 26, 2024, AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal was detained by the CBI while in custody of the Enforcement Directorate in the excise case. (ANI)
