In a significant political development, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya dissolved the state assembly on Thursday, a move that has sparked controversy and accusations from the Congress Party. The Congress claims that the dissolution was a desperate effort to prevent a constitutional crisis resulting from the state government's inaction.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh took to social media, posting on X, 'Haryana Governor today dissolved the state assembly to avert a constitutional crisis triggered by the state government's failure to convene an assembly session from March 13, 2024, a day after the swearing-in of the chief minister.' Ramesh criticized the delay in calling the assembly session, alleging that it was a deliberate strategy to conceal the BJP's lack of majority in the house. He accused the Chief Minister of clinging to power without the people's mandate and expressed confidence that the upcoming assembly polls would force the BJP to face reality.

Meanwhile, Governor Dattatreya justified his decision, citing the authority granted to him under clause (2) subsection (b) of Article 174 of the Indian Constitution. The political landscape in Haryana is heating up as various parties, including Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, JJP, and INLD, have released their candidates list for the assembly polls. The filing deadline for nominations is September 12, with voting scheduled for October 5 and results to be announced on October 8.
