AIADMK Reclaims Former MP V Maitreyan as Key Asset
Former Rajya Sabha MP V Maitreyan rejoined AIADMK after visiting General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami. Maitreyan was expelled for supporting another ousted leader in October 2022 and briefly joined BJP in June 2023. His political journey has seen multiple stints in both AIADMK and BJP.

Former Rajya Sabha MP V Maitreyan, after joining BJP last year, reintegrated into AIADMK under the leadership of General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Thursday.
Maitreyan visited Palaniswami's residence and submitted a letter requesting re-induction, which was approved. The party confirmed Maitreyan's departure from BJP and his re-admission into AIADMK.
Expelled from AIADMK in October 2022 for supporting former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, the 68-year-old Maitreyan was with BJP in the 1990s, running unsuccessfully for the South Chennai Lok Sabha seat in 1996. He joined AIADMK in July 1999, was elected to the Rajya Sabha three times, and rejoined BJP in June 2023 before returning to AIADMK.
