CPI(M) Leader Sitaram Yechury Passes Away at AIIMS
Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), passed away due to pneumonia. Admitted to AIIMS on August 19, 2024, Yechury was initially taken to the emergency ward and later shifted to the ICU.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury passed away on Thursday due to pneumonia. Yechury was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi on August 19, 2024, and was first taken to the emergency ward before being shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
'Sitaram Yechury CPI(M) General Secretary no more. He was admitted in AIIMS,' CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah told ANI. Sitaram Yechury was a notable Indian politician, holding a seat in the CPM politburo for 32 years and serving as the party's General Secretary from 2015. He also represented West Bengal in the Rajya Sabha from 2005 to 2017.
