Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Wednesday criticized Rahul Gandhi for his allegedly anti-reservation remarks, asserting that it reveals the Congress leader's petty mentality.
Shinde accused Gandhi, who is on a visit to the US, of spreading venom against India and indulging in divisive politics based on religion and caste. Gandhi made comments about reservations to students at Georgetown University, suggesting the Congress might consider scrapping them when India becomes a fair place.
Shinde reiterated his Mahayuti government's full support for reservations and vowed never to let them end as long as he remains a committed member of the Shiv Sena. He stated that Gandhi's views are not representative of Indian values and accused the Congress of confusing citizens about the Constitution and reservation policies.
