As the nomination deadline for the Haryana Assembly election nears, Congress leader and Haryana's Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda is poised to file his nomination from the Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency today. Former Chief Minister Hooda performed a havan at his residence in Rohtak before his nomination.

In the wake of failed alliance talks between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress, Hooda revealed that efforts were made to form a coalition, but AAP did not seem interested and decided to announce their candidates. 'We tried but maybe they didn't want it,' Hooda said moments before filing his nomination.

The seat-sharing negotiation collapse came after AAP declared candidates for 40 of the 90 seats in the Haryana Assembly. Hooda highlighted that competition is primarily between Congress and BJP, dismissing other parties as 'vote-cutters.' He criticized the JJP for forming a government with BJP, which he claims led to five years of mismanagement in Haryana.

Hooda expressed confidence in winning, stating that the 36 fraternities of Haryana support the Congress. 'People bless us, and it's our duty to serve them. We believe this time it will be 'Congress ki sarkar,'' Hooda iterated, emphasizing the Congress's intent to oust BJP.

Previously, on September 10, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini filed his nomination from Ladwa. Voting for the 90-member legislative assembly is scheduled for October 5, with the last date for filing nominations being September 12. The counting of votes will occur on October 8.

The Election Commission of India recently revised the Haryana Assembly election date to October 5, with vote counting moved to October 8 for both Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana assemblies. (ANI)
