The Congress on Tuesday criticized the 'double engine' government for allocating insufficient funds to Tripura for rebuilding after the devastating floods.

A total of 33 people have died, and over one lakh are homeless due to the floods. The state government estimates the flood-related losses at Rs 14,247 crore. Senior Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman stated at a press conference that the Centre has only released Rs 40 crore under the State Disaster Response Fund as an advance, which he claims is inadequate financial assistance.

Roy Barman accused Chief Minister Manik Sabha of illegally announcing a Rs 564 crore package for infrastructure restoration without state cabinet approval. He argues that immediate financial support should be prioritized for flood-hit residents who have lost everything. Roy Barman also questioned why Tripura has not been declared a disaster-affected state and criticized the government's deal with Tipra Motha and outlawed groups.
