Luxury Car Linked to Political Family Causes Multiple Collisions in Nagpur

A luxury car owned by Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule's son, Sanket, was involved in several vehicle collisions in Nagpur. Following the incidents, two occupants of the car were arrested. The police are continuing their investigation, while the BJP chief called for an unbiased probe.

A luxury car owned by Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule's son, Sanket, caused a series of vehicular collisions in Nagpur early Monday, authorities said. The incidents occurred in the Ramdaspeth area, leading to the arrest of two occupants, including the driver.

According to a Sitabuldi police station official, the Audi first hit a car driven by complainant Jitendra Sonkamble at around 1 a.m., then collided with a moped, injuring two youths. It went on to strike several more vehicles en route to the Mankapur area and ultimately hit a Polo car at a T-Point junction.

Occupants of the Polo car pursued the Audi and managed to stop it near the Mankapur bridge. While Sanket Bawankule and two others fled the scene, the driver, Arjun Hawre, and another passenger, Ronit Chittamwar, were apprehended and taken to Tehsil police station before being transferred to Sitabuldi police for further investigation.

The police noted that the occupants of the Audi were returning from a beer bar in Dharampeth at the time of the incident. A case of rash driving and other offenses was filed against Hawre and Chittamwar, who were later released on bail.

Commenting on the accident, Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule confirmed the car was registered to his son. He urged the police to carry out a fair and unbiased investigation, insisting that those guilty should face appropriate legal consequences, irrespective of their identities.
